Essential oils are pure
oils extracted from various plants, herbs and other natural
materials. They are used to promote and maintain good health,
wellbeing and in beauty therapies to enhance youthful complexions
and balance between body and mind.
Remember the oils must
be pure essential oils and not synthetic fragrant oil, we
recommend you purchase these essential oils from a reputable
retail store.
The following oils when
applied and used are beneficial for simple health treatments
and can be applied as a prevention or cure.
Aniseed
oil can be used as an expectorant, it loosens up congestion
in the chest and sinuses. Place a few drops in massage oil,
massage the back and chest, or place 2 drops in boiling water
as an inhalant to clear congestion and head colds.
Sweet Almond
oil can be used for chafing or nappy rash, apply
directly to affected areas, to soften and moisturise the skin,
can also be used to nourish facial skin as it is rich in vitamins
and balances the pH in the skin.
Clary Sage
oil combats tiredness and stress, can be added
to bathwater or in massage oil and massage into the back ,
neck and temples. It also relaxes muscle spasms by warming
and relaxing taut muscles, may also be used for facial blemishes
by direct application of pure oil.
Eucalyptus
oil is a powerful decongestant when used as
an inhalant, a few drops placed in boiling water and inhale,
may also be massaged into the back and chest for bronchial
cough and head colds, when using on babies and young children,
place 2 drops in 10 ml of massage oil . Eucalyptus oil can
be sprinkled under a pillow for easier breathing at night,
and being a strong antiseptic will rapidly heal wounds and
infections with direct application.
Evening primrose
oil is enriching and nourishing, will help clear blemishes,
soften wrinkles and soothe skin irritations with direct application
or in massage oil.
Frankincense
oil used on the face tones maturing skin, it also accelerates
new cell growth, giving one a more youthful complexion. A
few drops placed in hot water and used as an inhalant with
alleviate breathing problems and when applied to wounds and
infections will accelerate the healing process.
Juniper berry
oil will energise and invigorate, it is also a diuretic, when
applied with massage oil or in a foot bath, will activate
the remove of fluids from ankles and feet as well as removing
impurities from the body. Can be applied by direct application
to blemishes, acne and oily skin as it is a great astringent,
a few drops on a hair brush will lighten oily hair.
Lavender
oil is soothing and antiseptic, may be directly applied to
bites stings or minor burns. A few drops on the pillow will
promote a restful sleep or can be applied directly to the
neck and temples to calm tensions and stress.
Peppermint
oil cools and refreshes, a drop of oil in a glass of water
makes a great mouthwash. Can be used as an inhalant in steaming
water to clear sinuses and head colds, will also relieve travel
sickness and hangover nausea. One drop of oil in a glass of
water will relieve indigestion, irritation of the bowel and
flatulence.

Sandalwood
oil can be applied in a massage to alleviate sore throats,
tight chests and aching muscles caused by flu and colds. May
also be used to activate the sensual senses through massage
or by placing a few drops in bathwater.
Men can used sandalwood oil by direct application to prevent
shaving rash , leaving a spicy fragrance to the skin.
Wheatgerm
oil , makes an ideal facial oil for mature skin as it helps
maintain suppleness and elasticity, can be applied directly
to the breasts and stomach to prevent stretch marks during
pregnancy, will also relieve symptoms of acne, dermatitis
and eczema.
Ylang Ylang
oil has a very exotic scent and will highten sensual awareness,
may be applied in a massage oil or add to bathwater, will
balance over oil skin and when added to shampoo will promote
healthy hair growth.
Can be inhaled directly from the bottle in cases of extreme
stress and tension, may also be used in steaming water as
an inhalant for insomnia.
These simple health remedies
