Jessica Ridgeway, the 10-year-old Colorado girl who had been reported missing and whose body had been found, has been positively identified. According to Westminster Police Chief Lee Birk, there is a predator that roams around freely in their community. Jim Yacone of the FBI added that they cannot jeopardize this particular investigation considering the impact it has on Jessica’s family.
Scott Storey, Jefferson County District Attorney, said that he appreciates the role and presence of the media. However, he reiterated that the prime priority of the law enforcement is to catch the abductor of Jessica Ridgeway and bring him to justice.
“The most important thing we can do now is the investigation, the apprehension and the prosecution of the person who did this. Bringing the person to justice,”
he said. Then he addressed the media saying that the law enforcement will not be talking to them. They will also not be answering questions.
It may be recalled that it was on October 5, at around 8:30 in the morning, when Jessica was last seen. This was her usual activity, going to Chelsea Park to meet some friends and then going to school together.
The investigators first found her backpack and water bottle some 6 miles from where she was last seen.
“I want her to come walking back through that door. I need her to come walking back through that door,”
was all Jessica’s mother could say.
A list of the possible behaviors of Jessica’s abductor was released as police had been known to be focusing on an unknown suspect and that the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit is working on it. A psychic may very well be of help when in it comes to the list of behaviors of the abductor. Psychics have already been reported to have contributed much to locating missing persons and suspects to several crimes.
