After trying to get an undercover reporter to pay over £5,000 for “spiritual guidance” is now being investigated by Trading Standards.
Maria Sharman was approached by two young trainees from Wales on Sunday disguising as some people seeking spiritual help. Every word of her attempts to get cash from the pair was recorded during their conversation in Cardiff.
Pretending that his family were trying to sneak into his trust fund was Andrew Dagnell’s excuse to get the psychic to believe his needs after a tip off from a reliable source.
Andrew said “We went undercover in there to see how greedy she was”. Mrs. Sharman told the pair that they needed to lend her £5,000 to sort his problems and asked the other reporter, Emily Woodrow, £300 for cleansing of her aura as she was cursed.
Andre continues, “I decided to spin this story about a trust fund. She took the bait and said she wanted this £5,000. It went like clockwork and could not have gone better – the stuff she said was like gold dust.”
The reporters then arranged to meet the psychic outside a bank for the payment of the £5,000 cash as they have talked about. This was indeed a trap set for the psychic and pictures were taken for the exchange of cash. “We confronted her with two films crews and told her that her number was up,” Andrew added.
Mrs. Sharman then denies that she was a con artist who preyed on vulnerable people on which most of her clients were.
