Closure to the family of Olive Walker in relation to her murder is hoped by the Rotorua Police. This is after a flood of calls has come in after a psychic TV show featured the story.
On TV2’s Sensing Murder, which aired on Tuesday night, a historic murder investigation was highlighted and a description of the man who murdered Olive Walker in 1970 was given by an Australian medium.
Immediately after the program, a flood of calls came in to the police station from people who desire to provide information that can lead to the solving of the decades-old murder case. Since then, there have already been 50 calls.
Two psychics were featured in the program. Bev and Deb claim that they were able to speak with Olive regarding her death. The two psychics were featured despite the repetitive disclaimer of the show saying that police do not hire psychics or mediums to help solve crimes.
It was Deb who provided an identikit of the murderer. As a result, many people have called the police offering names of people who fit the identikit. However, after computing the ages of these people, Detective Staunton of the Rotorua Police disregarded the information believing that they were only children when the murder happened.
“We’ve had more new names than anything. We’re just working through them all,”
said Mr.Staunton. As of press time, no solid leads have been acquired by the police.
The sister of Olive, Mary Dillon, says that their mother still has not gotten over the murder of her sister even if it had already been 35 years.
Psychics have led to the resolution of many murders and crimes in the past. As for this one, the family and the police can only hope for the best.
