Last month, the psychic was arrested for investigation on extortion. Though she has posted bond, she is scheduled to appear in court this coming October 18.
More than $10,000 worth of jewelry was stolen by the girl who also happens to be the classmate of Lopez’ daughter. When the parents suspected something was wrong, they questioned their children.
“The girl was scared and came out with the truth and that’s when we were called,” Sheriff’s Detective Dang Luan said.
Of the items stolen, three pieces of jewelry were recovered from a pawnshop while a hunt is going on for a man who has reportedly claimed some of the other jewelries from the said shop, according to Deputy Aaron St. George.
The self-proclaimed psychic and the girl met four or five times in the garage of the former which was said to be filled with the cauldron, candles, chalk outlines, beads, and dolls.
Since the girl was under fear when she stole the jewelries, she is not considered a suspect according to St. George.
In Palmdale where Lopez lives with her husband and three children, no advertisement posts of a psychic were seen.
Investigators are trying to find out if there are other victims of the psychic case and warn as many pawnshops for the items that have been stolen.
Lopez was already arrested in September for petty theft but has been on probation since then after pleading no contest.
