The historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon will be the venue of a four-day paranormal event. The “Stratford-upon-Avon Ghost Festival” will take place from June 18 to 21, 2009. It will feature events such as ghost walks, overnight ghost investigations, paranormal workshops, séances and psychic fairs.
The event is hosted by Fright Nights, the UK’s leading ghost hunting specialist. The investigations will take place in famous haunted locations such as ‘The Falstaff’s Experience’, The White Swan Hotel and the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall.
The Falstaff’s Experience is known as one of the UK’s most haunted buildings. It is said to have more than 40 spirits residing within the building including an archer from the time of Henry VIII, a serial murderer from the 18th century, a young pickpocket in the tavern and a catholic gentleman from the time of the reformation.
The White Swan Hotel, on the other hand, is the oldest building in Stratford dating back to 1450. Legend has it, this is where Shakespeare bought his daily loaf of bread. Stratford Town Hall was built in the reign of Charles I and throughout its history, it has seen many calamitous events.
The festival starts off on the 18th from 7pm to 2am with a ghost tour around town followed by a ghost hunt at The Falstaff’s Experience. On June 19 from 7pm to 10pm, Mandy Masters will demonstrate her mediumship abilities by communicating with spirits related to the attendees from the Stratford Town Hall Ballroom. From 10pm to 4am on the same day, celebrity medium Ian Lawman will visit The Falstaffs Experience for an exclusive overnight ghost hunt. Equipped with state-of-the-art ghost hunting and psychic tools, Ian and a team of investigators will help the public encounter the world of the paranormal.
On June 20, members of the public can take part in an overnight ghost hunt and paranormal workshop at The Falstaff’s Experience from 9pm – 4am
Tickets for June 18 cost £55 per person, for the 19th it is pegged at £15 per person for Mandy Masters’ slot and £69 per person for the exclusive Falstaffs Experience. For June 20, tickets are priced at £65 per person.
