Psychic detectives impress people through creating the illusion of specificity and accuracy. The predictions they made appear to be amazingly accurate despite that fact that they are general and just vague. For instance, psychic detectives will often predict that the body will be found near water. This seems to be impressive for many people as most of the missing bodies are found near some sort of water such as near a river, a ditch, an ocean, a swamp, drainage, a reservoir and so on.) O
Last year, one such investigation has taken place. It was led by psychic detective and host of Skeptiko, Alex Tsakiris together with Bed Radford, the editor of the Skeptical Inquired magazine, psychic detective Nancy Orlen Weber and New Jersey homicide detectives Captain Jim Moore and Lt. Bill Hughes. The result of their investigation has been presented during the interview of Alex Tsakiris.
Radford summarized his findings from the three month investigation during the 70-minute interview. He asked Tsakiris to explain about the two police detectives who remembered Nancy Weber saying something different than what she actually said. Tsakaris refused to answer and just gave Radford a cool answer that he does not have to explain it because Lt. Bill Hughes and Captain Jim Moore did a great of explaining it.
The investigation is to check any development in the 1982 murder of Amie Hoffman, an eighteen-year-old cheerleader at Parsippany Hills High School in Hanover Township, New Jersey, who was lost for several days and was found floating face down in a four feet water in a concrete water tank at the Mendham Borough Reservoir on November 25 by a couple walking their dog. It was said according to the investigation that she has been stabbed several times with a sharp knife.
The investigation by Skeptiko sought to demonstrate how those skeptical of evidence of psychic detectives evaluate evidence of psychic phenomena.
