When my granddad was alive we were very close, he was the first person I opened my eyes to when I was born, he kept the picture that was taken at that time next to his chair on the mantle piece at home.
So when he got sick 11 yrs later I was devastated. He went into hospital with stomach cancer, he had my picture behind his bed. I didn’t visit him once, I was young and scared, I didn’t want to see him like that, plus the fact he lost a lot of his memory, I didn’t want to see him and have him look at me not knowing who I was.
Eventually my mom made us go to the hospital but we got there 10 mins after visiting time so we weren’t aloud in.
Months went by, then one night I was in my bed and something woke me, I looked towards my door to find my granddad just standing there, I was petrified because I knew he couldn’t be there, he was in hospital. I hid under my blanket and hoped he’d disappear.
When I looked back at the door he was gone, I ran into my parents room as white as a sheet and shaking, I told my mom what happened, she told me to go to sleep I was probably dreaming. I fell asleep in my parents bed.
Next morning around 7 am my Nana phoned in tears, it turned out that my granddad had died that evening! |
