"Part One: The Greatest Story Ever Told

This is the sun. As far back as 10 thousand B.C.E., history is abundant with carvings [M] and writings reflecting people's respect and adoration for this object [S1]. And it is simple to understand why as every morning the sun would rise, bringing vision, warmth, and security, saving man from the cold, blind, predator-filled darkness of night. Without it, the cultures understood, the crops would not grow, and life on the planet would not survive. These realities made the sun the most adored object of all time.[M] Likewise, they were also very aware of the stars.[M] The tracking of the stars allowed them to recognize and anticipate events which occurred over long periods of time, such as eclipses and full moons.[M] They in turn catalogued celestial groups into what we know today as constellations.[S2]

This is the cross of the Zodiac, one of the oldest conceptual images in human history. [M] It reflects the sun as it figuratively passes through the 12 major constellations over the course of a year. It also reflects the 12 months of the year, the 4 seasons, and the solstices and equinoxes [S3] . The term Zodiac relates to the fact that constellations were anthropomorphized, or personified, as figures, or animals.[S4] [M]

In other words, the early civilizations did not just follow the sun and stars, they personified them with elaborate myths involving their movements and relationships. [S5] [M] The sun, with its life-giving and -saving qualities was personified as a representative of the unseen creator or god...[M]"God's Sun,"[M] the light of the world, the savior of human kind.[S6] Likewise, the 12 constellations represented places of travel for God's Sun and were identified by names, usually representing elements of nature that happened during that period of time. For example, Aquarius, the water bearer, who brings the Spring rains".[S7] [M] [D]

hmmmm ... very interesting ... wish I had of had this evidence when I was debating the credibility of Astrology to a former Danish Army Guy only recently, who poo pooed it ... He said he had studied Religion and labeled me narrow minded because I told him Gemini (him) and Pisces (me) confused eachother at times (different view points)...

Long story rolleyes.gif ... but I'm gonna come back here and have another look at this...

I didn't post the actual "movies" link cause I am almost sure it has an asking to buy link on it some place, but if you go to the link provided and click on the home link, it will take you to the actual movie.
My husband and I are Atheist, but do not have any problem accepting religion or people who chose to follow it. And LOL my husbands jaw droped when we first sat to watch it cause he knew after part one, me being the lover of astrology and all things connected to it, have been saying it was "THE FIRST science" That "Astronomy" CAME from Astrology, but he didn't want to believe me. Now lol of couse Pagan's are the root of evil to him... He is joking, but not fully....
This movie also says that the "first" written book as far as religious text go is the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Which by chance have a copy of and am reading and know there are way to many likenesses to the christian son of g-d and Horus also Moses and the story of Noah seem to have come from The Book of the Dead. So if you take what this has to say, the Torah as well as the Bible are all plagiarized from the Book of the Dead. blink.gif

So given what you said what do you think is the real reason for the Bible's prohibition of interaction with astrologers, stargazers, mediums, fortune tellers etc?

This thought has puzzled me for years now -- mostly I think it was a decision of oppression -- keep the people ignorant of what they might learn about 'g-d' and spirituality and keep the people under your power ...

oh, how's that darker green??? tongue.gif

i see what you mean, Religions aren't just used for the practice of their beliefs; they are used to reign control over mass amounts of people and claim territory. Think about all the religious figures who start wars or genocides.. wars are direct result over wanting control over other's land.. and the only way to get that power is to have your religious views massly believed in that area.. how can you get people to follow you if they don't believe in your views.. like, just looking at the trial of socrates.. you can see how people who actually thought for themselves were ostracized. its worked so far in its ways to control us.. theres not quite big brother yet but look at all the 12 year olds who have phones with cameras, internet, music players, and dvd players on them.. slowly but surely we are becoming more and more dependent on the materials given to us and less dependent on our own minds. okay i sort of went off on a tangent but yeah my point was.. astrology/fortune telling/ etc was too thought provoking to conform to religious beliefs, it opens your mind to discovering possibilities of your own instead of being confined by religious rules/laws.

but why are these things being more and more accepted now? Maybe if astrology WAS a religion in the first place, it wouldn't be such an openly studied practice now.. it would have confines of its own. but a person from any religion can study astrology.

Well, I have to say I think the same as you. If people were able to say they possed any type of mental power that allowed them to think for them selves, it would have come out then that there is no "unforseen being" that is all omnipresence. And free will was not given to you by that unforseen being. But then if that had happen, we would not had about 99.9% of the wars we have had thoughout mans history.
So yes oppression, seperation and fear are all why in my OPINION

I am not too impressed with the accuracy and the kind of research that went in to make this movie.

I am a hindu and of what we've been taught for generations is that Krishna was born to Devaki and her husband Vasudeva. He was the eighth child of Vasudeva and Devaki. Krishna was NOT born to a virgin Devaki as what the transcript in the website says. Though the star in the east signaling his coming is true.
