I'm wondering if anyone has come across old stories passed down about the man of the lion and the dragon.
Old stories, rhymes, websites, all would be useful to me.

you may be referring to the chimera, ancients blurred the line between daily life and myth all the time, much like the australian Aboriginals with their dreamtime, the merging of multiple creatures into one was typically a discripsion of an individual. these people understood the concept of reincarnation at it's true level, to identify a person you couldn't use a name, it may change from millenia to millenia, you had to discrib them by their souls image. ie, half man half whatever.
some wear considered more beast than man, some would not be considered man at all. cultures would consume parts of there enemies to absorb their strengths into their own soul. like multi coloured modelling clay building itself up by attaching new strands. kill a tiger and your soul gains the soul of the tiger. this honours the animal that sacrificed it's life for yours. no need to be a vegetarian the animal presents itself into your life so you can kill it, as it wants to merge with you. this traditional concept was also shared by many primitive cultures. "you are what you eat"

things where a lot simpler back when everyone could feel free to see each others spirits without fear of being called crazy. if you looked at a person and saw their wings and a beak you could identify them as being from a particular family. see someone with a cat head or dog parts, and again you know what family they are from. this would also help the person being reincarnated to remember past lives. these days to make past life recollection easy the soul needs to adapt to a very different world. only those capable of finding families to reincarnate into that will allow them to select their own name have an advantage. nothing says remind me of who i was like having the same name life after life, also helps to reincarnate into the same family.
