So..question for you all...

I have had this experience more than a few times...but last night is a perfect example...

I am visiting a town where an old friend lives. So I called him and said "hey do you want to hang out" and he said "sure". He says "it'll take me a little bit - but I should be over in 1 -1.5 hours." Right as he was saying that...my intuition kicks in and tells me "Don't get your hopes up - he's not coming."

Two hours later...he isn't here...fine...he could be running late...there could have been traffic...3 hours later - nothing. As of now, nt a phone call, not a text nothing.

So my question is - is it really intuition that is telling me he is not coming, or is my self doubt actually causing him to not show (a la the law of attraction...)

I have had this situation a few times with a few people...i generally try to ignore that little voice in my head that says...this person will not be following through...and I really try to be a positive thinker - but gosh...sometimes i really seem to be missing the point or something...!

Thoughts?? Suggestions???

Thanks a zill.

seems like intuition to me,if law of attraction had happened he would have shown up

Ignoring that little voice only reinforces it, what you resist will persist. Something you can do is think of it like: when that voice came up, it was talking about the present. So presently (i.e. 2 hours before he was suppose to come) you are on the path where he does not show up. So instead of resisting it, you say "oh thank you for pointing that out to me, now I will get myself back on track, and allow for the best thing to happen. Maybe it would be best that he comes, maybe it is best that he does not. But I love myself and I love him and so I know that the best thing that could happen will be what happens" And then relax into the good loving feelings.
Something like that. It will take practice to break the habit of ignoring the voice that tells you things you don't want to hear, but you can do it!

I think it may well have been intuition/telepathy, knowing this gave you an opportunity to think of alternatives ahead of time.

Is it possible that it is neither?

Not to crash any hopes. But consider for a moment that your friends have a set pattern of behavior that you are already internally accustomed to. So you are just responding from your expectations and not so much what you're creating, by attracting, or receiving via telepathy. unsure.gif Could you say that knowing the patterns of your friends is intution? Maybe, i think of it as being conscientious.

Like not for nothing, my husband knows I'm gonna be late (especially for parties. I mean, isn't that like a rule? Functions, movies, Dr's appt those are different), I mean he KNOWS. But instead of preparing like most of my family do (rolleyes.gif) which is to give me an earlier time by almost an hour, i show up late and it only reaffirms what he was thinking. I like to mess with his head sometimes and get there early wink.gif laugh.gif

If it's intuition try it on strangers. If you work at an office that deals with appointments try to intuit when the New people are coming; early, late or on time. Try an experiment, if you see it happening very often then you'll know it's your intuition.

However if you notice that the people who are late seem to not be cognizant or respectful of the time of others when you meet them (like if they talk over you, cut past what you're saying, change subjects so the focus is on them) then maybe it's pointing out what you may be attracting. However, if you find this at your job then it may be more your job than you. So you may have to be a little more aware of people, and not just one person, before you can establish a pattern.

Did he ever show up or did you ever get in touch with him?

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I do think Chiili has a point...this is pretty common behavior for him. However, I seem to get my hopes up everytime i guess wanting to believe this time will be different...that is why i can't figure out if it is intuition saying "nope..no differnet" or law of attraction somehow repelling him.
Anyway, to answer Kai's question, he sent me a text message (time stamped 2 minutes after our conversation - but delievered this morning- stupid text service) saying "sorry i have to cancel". (Now, frankly, I don't think something came up in the 2 minutes between our phone conversation and the text...i think he probably had no intention of showing up and just doesn't know how to say "sorry i can't make it tonight"...! Anyway, I have left that town and am now elsewhere...so he had his chance...oh well...!

I would call that intuition by way of set behavioral patterns.

Could just be that you know and understand him well, or it could be telepathy. It's strange when that happens isnt it? I have done that, asked someone a question via text or msn, theres been a delay in the reply but kind of know what the reply is before it comes. I wonder if it is something to do with radio waves, maybe we are becoming so used to receiving messages via them that we are evolving and able to do it telepathically! Just a thought, although I did look up something once that linked telepathy to radio waves - that kind of backed my little theory up.

In answer to your title question, I have struggled with that a lot, but think of it as "premonition or manifestation?". I have come to the conclusion that as we all have multople possible futures (although I think there are a few points in our lives which are set in stone), that when we get precognitive insight (our own or from other people), we are sometimes able to manifest it into reality or not. Some things are a warning, and the outcome can be changed, some things are easier to change than others. Sometimes we have no control at all. The more people that are involved the more destiny, free will and life lessons are at play so the less control we have. The trick (I think) when receiving insight as you did in your example is to recognize and take responsibility for what you can control, but give control to the Universe for what seems unlikely to be changed, whilst trusting that all will turn out for the best.

Having said that, I tend to just trust in the Universe completely these days, I call it "floating downstream", just going with the flow of life.

With hindsight, and after reading the variety of replies you've had would you have done anything differently? If a similar situation occurred, what would you do?

Sweet!

I can totally see this happening. biggrin.gif It makes a lot of sense. This also brings to my attention the idea of channeling or something of that nature.

Sometimes we know someone well enough that we can have a conversation with them without them being present.

If you can you have the same accuracy with someone you've never met I think it would be like what you mentioned Angel, a Premonition.
