I'm definately a typical Virgo. I'm a very big... uhh.. perfectionist when the occasion calls for it. I've actually had people at work yell at me for being too organized. lol I've also had people yell at me for worrying about others more than myself. Which I still do from time to time, I must admit. lol But I can't help it. I'd rather other people be happy and me be miserable than me be happy with others miserable.
It's just the way my body works. lol So yes, definately typical.

I'm Taurus, 20th May-so sort of on the cusp.
Things about me that are typical Taurean:
1) Stubborn as anything.
2) My temper, once it explodes then...WATCH OUT!
3) I like the finer things in life, good music, good books, good food and drink.
4) I'm very philosophically minded and love having stimulating and interesting conversations.
5) Have Taurus sense of humour, I laugh even when sometimes life gets me down, and often crack jokes when others in my position would be quiet and sad.
Haven't really looked into the Gemini side, oh I do get bored easily and change my mind a lot sometimes-is that Gemini like?

Ditto - a Cancer/Leo Cusp myself...I understand that Rose Kennedy shared this cusp.
However, my Mars falls in Cancer, but never the less, for both of us our Sun is conjunct Mars, and we never run away or back down from a fight and it makes us very competitive types.
Just curious about which house your Sun is in. Mine is in the 9th.
I understood that a person's sun sign is what they project to the outer world, but in one's personal and inner world, it was the rising sign that rules.

I am Sag and "feel" very Sagittarian and find myself possessing many of the qualities of Sag. BUT...something to think about here, is that the way we view ourselves and the way others view us is a completely different thing. The Sun represents our consciosness or our ego and how we see ourselves. For a more accurate picture of how we express ourselves we must look at the Ascendant, whatever sign the first house cusp falls in in our natal horoscope. This is your rising sign and indicates your outward personality.

My Mars is in Leo on the cusp of my Second and Third houses. So I am an extreem person for fairness and willpower being my guide.

Hi brokenfeathers, if you know your birth time you should check what sign your ascendant falls on, as this is more reflective of your outward personality. Also, placement of planets in your chart could account for a lot of the "lack" of Aries. Though my Sun is in Sag and I do display a lot of that sign personally, my rising sign is Libra and find myself displaying a lot of Libra traits as well.

I have some very typical aquarius attributes, but some are rather untypical. (try to figure them out!

)
Alot of people i know don't believe in astrology, but most of them never really showed interest. They say "that sounds nothing like me" or "that could be anyone". Of course, they're right, partially, but they forget astrology is some sort of science or art. Additionally, there are other elements of astrology (in a broader context) in other cultures, like the chinese horoscope.
I personally think a mixture of astrology elements may allow an almost precise description.

some trends are typical. Like with me, I'm a leo, and I am quite the dreamer and sometimes I can be the center of attention for both positive and negative reasons. However, other traits that typical leo's have, the stand-offish attitude and other boastful things, may be influenced based on one's upbringing. I guess, in one regard, if one is aware of the traits they possess astrologically, they may have the ability to sort of select which traits they convey or not.
I think that just may be with me I don't know...but would like some feedback on it. As far as asking birthdates goes, I find that I have too many friends that are scorpios, and scorpios and leos are supposed to fight like cats and dogs...
and it's funny many scorpios are my best friends...go fig?

Your Sun is your inner truth in a way, and the Ascendant is your outward face; what most people see in you in daily life.
It can take some time to discover your Sun's qualities in yourself. From what my parents tell me, I was a true Aries when I was young, my common phrase being "I can do it myself!" However when I was older, around 10-14 I couldn't recognise Aries traits in myself very often. The temper came through in Firey bursts from time to time, though.
I think it could have to do with childhood, being oblivious to what others think, you are more like your Sun, your true self. Then when you start to be more aware of yourself and others you become more like your Ascendant, what you think you should be. Only when you are comfortable with yourself do your Sun qualities come forward.

I am a true Sag in many ways. I don't necessarily believe in "cusps". I mean...if you had a premature birth, would you take the date which you were supposed to be born?? Or the actual date of your birth? I believe our higher selves choose the exact time of our birth. If you are on the cusp, it could just be that your higher self needed another planet to be aligned in just the right spot so that it could balance-out other aspects of your natal chart.
I very much agree with Steve in that one must take into consideration the Ascendant as well as the Sun signs...and even more so, it its very important to also consider the other planetary positions. For instance, wherever Venus was at the time of your birth tells of how you lead a romantic life; mars --> passive/agressive; jupiter --> success & opportunity.
Although I'm a Sag Sun, I'm a Cancer Moon. Isn't that an interesting pair? Flighty Sag, always looking to be on the move and for fun and adventure...then take Home-Body Cancer, always looking for home and hearth, stability and security.
Many aspects within your natal chart will balance-out or significantly increase/decrease other extremities...and this is all based upon the lessons that we are to learn/teach within this life.
Bright Blessings,
~Jasper

I agree with you Skyhook. The Ascendant is the mask we wear to fit into situations, so your explanation is really good. As children we don't have as much pressure to fit in so express the Sun sign easier, but as we grow older we learn to use our mask more often in new or uncomfortable situations.

Hey Jasper, your chart should be cast for the time that you take your first breath.
Yeah, I too believe that the higher self chooses the moment of birth and that the planetary influences are taken into consideration for this. I also have thought that sometimes the window of opportunity for a soul to hit that exact moment can be missed and so the soul leaves the body causing miscarriage. I do not believe that this accounts for ALL miscarried pregnancies, but I do think its possible that this happens.

I hear that Scorpio's are like this also. With the three different levels of personality. The lizard, the scorpion and the phoenix....I think that's what they are. But it seems I read that it has to do with the degree of the sign. For instance the sun in the first 10 degrees is a lizard, the second 10 degrees the scorpion and the third ten degrees the phoenix. It was a very very long time ago that I read this so I could be off on that. I also read that when a Scorpio is born someone in the family, or close to the family dies within a certain period of time. When my Scorpio brother was born, my mom's mother passed away three weeks later. Has anyone else ever heard of that? And I also wondered if that had to do with the degree thing above. As in the death being related to a Phoenix being born. Funny thing I noticed about the Phoenix births was that it seems no matter what these people do they will succeed.

You are probably reading a very genrealized description, brokenfeathers. It really has so much to do with the "whole" of the chart. If you had your personal chart done you would see more detailed personality traits emerge. I have read charts that are absolutely hair-raisingly accurate.

I'm an Aries also and I've had a chart done like that. I couldn't even begin to fathom the amount of research (thousands of years) that went into that level of detail. I will admit that those are considerably more expensive though.

I've met so many like that. But not all...that's why I wondered if it applied to the Phoenix babies, or whichever one it is. It would be interesting to know what degree you son's 'sun' is in.
I could never find my brothers time of birth and unfortunately Mom couldn't remember.

I agree Rose and Skyhook. I have always heard that the Ascendant is what we show to the outer world...the face we put out there and how we want others to percieve us. I had never thought about the age factor before though. That's interesting.

LIBRA"These people are great to tell secrets to because they never listen to anything properly and promptly forget whatever is said".I am Librian, and agree with most things that are written but I was amazed when I came across this quote as this is a definite description of me!

I am very loyal, and would never ever tell a secret, purely because I live by the rules, "treat people how you would like to be treated yourself" but in any case, it is also true I would forget what has been said to me in time anyway!

I actually felt disappointed to read that my ability
to never listen properly and promptly forget whatever is said is part of my makeup, as I think it holds me back with my confidence.
I wonder if it is a traite that can't be improved upon?
I am looking to change my career next year where I will need to retain information and think quickly

i'm an aires/Tarus 20th april and i think i'm embrace both signs i'm as stubbon as they come, even if i know i'm in the wrong i'll still argue that i'm right...whats that? no i wont? yeah i will....no i wont.....yeah i will ( this could go on forever) lol,
what i take from the aires
Aries are thought to be assertive,, enthusiastic, , humorous, fast-paced, energetic and passionate, sociable, good communicator, brave,, individualistic, independent, impulsive, competitive, eager, straightforward, forceful, headstrong, a leader, focused on the present and freedom-loving. They can also sometimes be intemperate, violent, impatient, fiery, rash, extreme, and arrogant, impulsive, intolerant, insensitive, and bullying out of selfishness (at least i'm honest) lol
what i take from the tarus
calm, patient, reliable, loyal, affectionate, sensuous, ambitious, and determined character. Generally, there is something distinctly sensual about the appearance. The Taurus person is resourceful, thorough, dependable, responsible, placid, stable, comfortable, solid, earthy, strong, money-oriented, practical, productive, cautious, musical, and artistic. They can also sometimes be stubborn, indulgent, insecure, acquisitive, possessive, rigid, stodgy and slow, and prone to hedonism, laziness, inflexibility, habituality, jealousy, and antipathy.
so many things i dunno what i am half the fine (did anyone see dippy in there? lol)
