I was wondering if any of you know what your Rising Sign (otherwise known as the Ascedant) is, and whether you understand what it is?

Well, you do know something! You are right in saying that you need a time of birth to know what your Rising Sign is.... did you know that the Rising Degree changes every four minutes?? Most people don't know that!

From this chart, the rising sign/ascendant is in Cancer.

It is important for several reasons. Your sun sign is the face you wear to the world. Your rising, which is also your first house, sets everything else in motion so to speak, and is your private face.

For instance, if you know what your first house is, you will pretty much know what the rest of the houses are in.

I had a look at the details you gave and you have Pisces Rising... just!

This can mean that you are very sensitive - physcally and/or emotionally to your environment... amongst other things!

With such a prominence of the Sign Cancer, plus the ruling planet (the Moon) on the Ascendant as well... this certainly is a highly emotional individual who needs to belong! Cancer Rising sometimes gives a round face, very sensitive skin and/or prominent chest.

Chainging emotions and sensitivity to other people would also be traits I would think would be part of the make up of this person....

Since this thread is about Rising Signs I might stick to that.... especially since there is so much to look at in a birth chart.

Aries Rising individuals usually like a direct approach to life in general and are known to like 'rescuing'. You have a lot of planets in the first house of your birth chart which amplifies these tendences. Headaches and/or pain in the head area is common with this sign, as are injuries to the head, and fevers.

This Rising sign is good at starting things and motivating people!

I have such a "conflict" with the "NEED" to belong, and the "NEED" to be an individual. I call my self my own oximoron
My face is round, my skin is so sensitive I have to wear sun tan lotion all year around. I lol almost have a phobia of the sun to the point that I wont go out if it is to sunny and emmm err the chest lol didn't come till after I had a few kids
BUT I as well feel I conflict with my Mars in Leo. I am a very needy person of having fairness in the world and do not back down to anyone for any fight I feel is a rightious fight and will win.
I am in hopes that with this new board I may be able to learn more indepth about my chart. I am always told by other's (astrologers) my chart and my conflicts are on to grand of a scale for them to really read it and help me understand it more. Thanks for the tid bit.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to look at charts individually... but I can say that in a generic sense all people at around 50 years old learn about where they need to be healed, and how they can help others be healed from similar wounds. These are likely to be psychological or emotional wounds.

People with Pisces Rising have been benefiting from the travel of Jupiter through Scorpio over the last year, through an improved ability to find purpose and meaning in life.

If I never met her I would just think he has an ego and always wanted to be a star and may not abe a realy psychic or channeler. Anyway this woman Bea tought me alot. Wen to see Kenny with her, his jaw would drop when he saw her. Ok, I have been reading today and my sun sign is Virgo, ascending sign is Aries. Moon is in Pisces.

And I'm a Wood Horse in Chinese Astrology! The bad news is that I married an Earth Rat which is supposed to be bad but it has to be wrong because we're a very good match. That one site can take the 20% success prediction and think again! Hahaha

Just thought I'd add that I was thinking about Chiron when mentioning the age of around 50. Chiron returns to it's oritinal position at around that time so reactivates the energies that were around at the time you were born relating to this asteroid.

Virgo Rising people tend to approach life using logic (more so than your usual Cancer Sun person), are adaptable and good at paying attention to detail. They are usually practical.

I don't know much about Chinese Astrology except that it is much more complex that Western Astrology. I'm a Metal Monkey by the way!!

It's not unusual to see similar energies running through the chart of spouses, family members and close friends since we tend to feel more comfortable with similar energies.

And yes, Rising Sign and the Ascendant mean the same thing.

What you have noticed is not unusual and highlights the nature/nurture argument. I believe we are born with certain tendencies and our environment, and what we eventually do with what we have got naturally affects how we express these traits.

Wow that's interesting, especially after reading about what the ascendant sign represents, because I am very observant and practical when dealing with the real world, but in my heart I'm much more emotional and wishful.

Studying my husband's chart and my own, my ascending sign is his descending sign and his ascending sign is my descending sign! Kind of like a mirror image. We both have our sun signs as Earth signs so the basic similarities in nature are there, so we do get along very well. Well, of course there are always little nit-picking things after one has been married for 20 years but, you know... I guess I just did not expect to see so many coincidences in our charts.

I've seen a lot of this type of transposing of energies and repeating of planetary patterns within family birth charts...

Hi there, I'll admit I'm a bit befuddled by all of this. I'm a Gemini and it seems I have the Sun, Moon and Mercury all in Gemini on my Natal chart. So I'm a bit confused as to whether we only have one ascendant or if we can have...ummmm....three??

That's very interesting. My own abilities had been lying dormant for some time but suddenly just became active again a few months ago -- and I turned fifty this year!

It still amazes me after nearly 20 years of being involved in astrology in how well it works in most cases!!

People with Leo Rising tend to be quite fixed (or stubborn!!), and have hair that is noticable in some way... eg, very long, or unusual in some way. Loyalty and love are usually important to you if you have this Rising Sign. These characteristics may be altered a bit by your Scorpio Sun sign which is more introverted than the Leo Rising qualities.

Wow... my partner has the same combination. The Capricorn Ascendant can be quite good at giving people a serious 'mask' that they wear when dealing with new people and situations. As people get to know you they get to see more of the Aries energy that you probably tend to hide unconsciously.




Yes, the Libran side of you would love to socialise and mix with other people, but the Virgo aspect of your personality and approach to new people/situations would tend to give you more of a shy aspect. Virgo Rising people tend to get involved in situations where they help others, for example as nurses, working in the police force, or a health industry. There is only one Rising Sign and that is calculated using your time and place of birth. This is because your Rising Sign is so called as it is the zodiac sign rising in the East at the moment of your birth.

In regards to Chiron - this is a relative newcomer to astrology with it's core meaning being 'The Wounded Healer'. If you do a search on google you will find some interesting articles on this interesting character.




That's the beauty of astrology... it makes me realise that most of us a full of fully understandable contradictions - lol!!

Your Cancer Rising would give you more of a cautious approach to life than your average Sagittarian. I think someone else had Cancer Rising in this thread too .

Depending on the position of Chiron, this planet can reveal where we hold a wound that does not heal, but also where we are gifted at helping others heal themselves. For example, it seems that by sign, you have Chiron Squaring your Moon... so depending on other factors within your birth chart, time, etc... a Moon/Chiron contact sometimes indicates a wounded relationship with the mother or primary caregiver. The upside of this energy gives you an excellent ability to understand the emotional needs of those around you.

This is just an example of what Chiron can give in astrology.

Can Chiron carry reflections of past lives? Your explanation above would make sense in that I was my mother's older brother in a past life. We witnessed the deaths of our parents and she was distraught with me for the rest of our lives because she thought I could have done something to prevent their deaths. My higher self supposedly chose to be born to my mother in this life so I could make her proud of me and balance out that disharmony. She's always saying that I'm the spitting image of her older brother...in this life...how cool is that?! haha!

And yes...I am very empathic and do have an uncanny ability to understand and help others cope with their emotional needs. I'm just now beginning to be able to separate my emotions from those that I feel around me. Sometimes I would find myself feeling extremely anxious and almost dive into a panic attack...like in heavy volumes of traffic. Now, I just make myself realize that I'm the calm one (traffic never really affected me that way before)...and the anxiety I'm feeling is from all of the people around me. Grounding/Centering/Balancing comes much more easier now that I realize the multitude of emotions I feel usually aren't mine to deal with =)

But I digress...this should've prolly been in another post

Ascendant is the zodiac sign rising over the horizon at the time of one's birth. As the Earth rotates, all 12 signs rise in turn. It has a bearing on your personality and behaviour.
For example, my Ascendant is Leo. All things being equal, I'm likely to be more extrovert than someone with a Virgo Ascendant.
But it can get complicated, and other planetary combinations come into it. In other words, just because someone may have Virgo rising doesn't necessarily mean they're a shrinking violet. And not all Leos are obvious extroverts or take a career in drama.

I'm a newbie here but I have done just a touch of astrology in the past. I'm and Aries with a Cappie rising and Pisces moon and Merc. Aries/venus, Sag/Mars with two trines in my chart. But I'm more interested in my twins rising signs. They were born 7 min. apart. One with a Libra rising and the other with 00 Scorpio. Talk about night and day personalities. They are Taurus girls. It's the 00 Scorpio that I'm most curious about. It seems I remember reading something about this years ago. That it has some significance with regard to recognition. But I don't really remember. Any idea's about that?

About the little munchkins....I've got a feeling the different personalities is not mainly to do with the Libra and Scorpio ascendants. I think some kind of planetary alignment changes because of the 7-minute birth time difference. Just guessing, but probably somebody into astrology where you are can put you in the picture.

Oh, would that they could be little munchkins again.... They will be 23 in April and they are far from little. And actually the rest of their chart is quite similiar within a few degree's here and there. But their ascendant being the most prominant difference. They both have moon, merc & venus in Aries in the 6th house. The Libra rising puts on this really mean facade (at least around me) when she is actually such a softy inside. And the Scorpio rising seems to have (how can a mother say this) an air of beauty about her that the other one doesn't. Something you can't really put your finger on. She is also the one who seems to have the confidence in abundance. She's already been on TV. (her 15 min of fame) and took it upon herself to go to Europe with her class this last summer. She just seems to have more umph about her. She's a real people pleaser. The Libra rising could care less what people think....isn't that odd?
