As a continuation of my previous thread I thought I'd add a poll to see what our Rising Signs are and if there is a prevalence of any!

Is it possible for your rising sign and moon sign to be the same? Mine are....

Cancer.
I don't like it though.
"don't like it"? What don't you like and why?

First appearance on people is that I'm really shy. Which sounds correct with regards to my rising sign. But that's only half the truth. It's just that I'm a normal introvert..and they ask me to open up more..I do so, and I still get the same response. Hence I'm bit frustrated with the rising sign.
I don't know what's good of a cancer rising sign, if anyone knows I'd be glad to know...
I find that astrology makes for a vague life outline at best, it was a life path set out for you when you were born. But I find that the more you learn about yourself, the more important your own choices become. If you noticed most horoscopes give a description of an event that may happen, but what you do with that event is totally up to you. I think that the more developed you become, the less relevant astrology need be, unless of course you choose it to be relevant. All you have to do is decide to choose your own fate.
Searching around the web says that cancer ascendants are matter-of-fact kind of people, with practical, unassuming, and nonjudgemental relationships. Therefore people feel safe coming up to you and telling you things.
You have to remember though that rising sign is just 1 element of astrology.

Kaiouken,
That's pretty much my take on destiny versus choice. The future is all about choices, unless maybe you're heir to the throne of Japan or something like that.
I think where "Destiny" comes into it is something like this. Your destiny places a certain situation in your way. You are confronted with a need for decisions relating to this situation or event. The choice is your own, but the destiny of it is seemingly to be compelled to choose, to solve problems, and thus maybe to grow.
Cancer ascendant...We have to be who we are. Maybe in this case, invite approaches from others with...a degree of accepting silence.
Oh by the way, I don't think there will be any preponderance of a particular rising sign.

Yes I totally agree that no one sign is better than any other sign, they are all just different. Diversity makes the world go round
You should most definately be yourself, and you don't need a horoscope to tell you how to do that (If you don't want it to).

I agree with you. However, I have only recently become very interested in astrology so when i explored my sign and rising sign, (I am a cancer and my rising sign is aquarius) i realized that this describes me perfectly. Of course, I think that if one did not want to accept the catagorization that astrology places upon them, they would be able to change, although it might be difficult, as astrology represents one's natural inclinations.

Oops! I had a brain lapse and voted my moon, Aries, instead of my rising sign, Capricorn.

I'm pretty sure the meaning of rising signs is the sign that has influence in your interactions with others, so basically what you are on the outside and what the world percieves you as..
so a pisces rising sign i think would mean you appear to others as compassionate and generous.. (correct me if i'm wrong)

Another thing to remember is that still waters run deep and cancer is a water sign and as such prefers to gather information before commiting and are caustious more so than shy. It also depends on how many other water signs you have in your chart. I have a gemini rising sign but my moon is in scorpio and quite honestly when riled I have a vicious tongue and a firey temperament. First impressions of me in my youth was that I was an airhead and talkative so it used to throw people a little when they were trying to guess my sun sign. By the way my sun sign is cancer remember most people who truly get to know you see all the different aspects to your personality over time and a true friend accepts you for what you are warts and all.

so i have a kind of funny story about finding out about my rising sign.
so i got a reading once from a group of psychics and at the time i was having this big problem with a guy i was .... ,well honestly i still am, kind of in love with. they asked me what my sun sign was and what his was (scorpio) and they said WOAH. yeah. choppy waters ahead! but then one lady said she was the same sun sign i was and she was happily married to a scorpio because her rising was scorpio. so for that reason it seemed to balance out. they asked me about my rising and i had no clue and i didn't know my time of birth (which CAN greatly change the results by the way.)
so my friend who was really into this got a book and tried to look it up for me with just using noon time. she came up with leo rising. and for some reason i was very upset. i was like "NO. THAT HAS TO BE WRONG. I KNOW I AM A SCORPIO RISING." and she was like "oh, leo isn't so bad." and i 'm like "NO, it just doesn't seem right at all. it's not me!"
well for the longest time i tried to prove that that was wrong. i asked my mother what my birth time was and she couldn't exactly remember. she was like....it was really early in the morning. " i tried different times early in the morning and for some reason i still got leo. and people would be like "you just want to be a scorpio rising to you can validate your compatibility with this guy you're infatuated with!" and then i'd yell and be like, "NO I'm NOT!"
well. one day i happen to get a look at my birth certificate. blurred a little by age, it was still legible. i try the new confirmed time, and sure enough i was indeed a scorpio rising. i knew it. i knew i was right. but just to make sure, i tried a couple of online ascendent calculators. all said that i was indeed a scorpio rising. it just so happened that the one hour i didn't check...the earliest time i couldn't possibly imagine how my mother could be in labor at this hour. that was it. i even changed the minutes a bit in case the doctors were off a bit by 10 minutes. but no. i am a pure scorpio rising. and i am glad i could prove this. turns out that my mother also happens to be a scorpio rising. so funny.
