When I do a reading for you, I put quite a bit of effort into preparing before I start my day.
Initially I burn incense, usually sandalwood, to open the lines of communication between this realm and the wider "world" and to help as I commence my daily meditation, in which I take notes of any special insights I may have for clients during my day.
My "sacred space" is set up. I make a special area to do my readings and have a table covered with doeskin fabric, which I lay my A.G. Müeller cards (my personal favourite cards) and crystals. I have
jade for fortune and money issues, clear quartz to attract positive energy, and amethyst which are crystals I have affinity with. As a Virgo, I also have a crystal of hematite as this "grounds" me, and is my favourite.
As well, I lay a red rose on the table for love related questions, and light a pink, rose scented candle before I start.
My cards are then cleansed by waving them 4 times through the smoke at the beginning of the day, to remove the energy left after I have read a clients cards and do this again between readings.
I never do my readings in the presence of my family or friends, as I want my client to know they have my total attention, and at no stage do I gossip about what has been told me in confidence.
When not in use, my cards are stored in a box, decorated with cupids, wrapped in pink silk.
I will answer most questions, but decline from reading about the deceased, as my spirit guides will not allow me to do this type of reading, but the Guild has a number of experts in this area of communication.
