Having Inner Balance is what I term as moving Beyond Infatuation:
Have you noticed that whenever you are infatuated with something, whether it is a girl, boy, business deal, employee or just your own performance, something happens to bring you back to earth? Its when you all of a sudden think to yourself, Hey, what just happened?! One minute I was on top of the world and now Im down in the dumps, my luck has just run out.
Well thats generally when you think something is all-good, you have an unbalanced perception and are not seeing the truth of the situation or person at hand. Life and the universe have a plan to keep everything in and around you in a balanced state. It has a way of keeping us humble when we start to get out of hand. And its all to do with our perception.
For instance, lets take a simple thing like the rain. Imagine that you are witnessing a scene in a country-farming household. And the farmer is outside looking very worried as he looks out to his crops. There seems to be a lot of activity around him, with people and cars coming and going and there are tables and chairs everywhere and decorations like theres a big celebration about to happen.

But oh no, whats happening now
its raining and all of a sudden the farmer drops to his knees and raises his hands in glee as hes laughing and crying all at the same time.. You see, he had not had rain for several months and didnt know how he was going to survive and be able to support this family, he had great worries and his responsibilities laid heavily on him
but inside the house, not 50 feet away, his wife and daughter are very upset and in sorrowful tears, because today is her wedding day and her outdoor reception has just been ruined.
So what is it? Is the rain good or is it bad. Its neither, its just rain, and it is only the way we look at it, its our perceptions which color the way we feel about it.
You see there really isnt anything that is all-good or all-bad and as soon as we start to see something or someone or a situation as being all-good or all-bad then we have a lopsided perception. This is when we can start to get an imbalance in our thinking.
Its when we are not really seeing the truth of any given situation. We are only seeing our perception of it and this is when we start to become judgmental and can sometimes become somewhat arrogant, thinking our way is the only way and its much better than anyone elses. And then off-course this is when the trouble starts. Sensitive issues get out of hand, employees get upset, and unrest can start in the work place and on the home front and
we all know what happens next, the fireworks start or at least they start to smolder. This means that there is not a clear direction going through the company, the team or on the home front. And then the business or the family units are not working as a team effort or as effectively as they could be.
Heres a quote I would like to share with you, which I have on my office pin board. I dont know the originator of it and I am sure it has been around for a while but is something to think about next time you have a misunderstanding with someone in your life. Heres how it goes:
"Every issue, belief, attitude or assumption is precisely the issue that stands between you and your relationship to another human being; AND between you and yourself."
Wow!, thats powerful isnt it and it sums up what inner balance is all about. If you can come to terms firstly with how you feel about yourself and then others then you have truly experienced inner balance.
