Rapid Relaxation is a 5-step, 5-minute process, designed for busy people who dont have time to relax and gain the many benefits of meditation. If practiced regularly, it can become a powerful process for you to become centered, more in control, and in touch with your inner self to gain true inspiration.
Step One: BreatheBreathing is the first step in relaxation. Sometimes we are not even aware of our breathing pattern. It can be shallow, not allowing much breath into our lungs. We can hold our breath when were anxious and not even know were doing it, therefore we tense up even more. By learning how to be conscious of your breath and practice the breathing and light techniques, you will relax and be more centered, gaining more control of your life. You will feel calmer and have more clarity about what you are doing.
Step Two: Noise controlThere are two types of noise, which can annoy us, and stop us from being the productive person we desire to be. Firstly, theres external noise. Thats the noise around us, like phones ringing, children laughing or crying, road works, other people talking when you are concentrating and so on. Then theres brain noise. Thats the brain chatter that never stops and doesnt allow us to reflect on what it is we need to do to accomplish our goals. Once you have learnt the two Noise Control techniques you will find that noise is not the nuisance it used to be. And let's face it, its here to stay; its part of what makes up our life and environment so we might as well learn how to manage it.
Step Three: RelaxWhen we are stressed we often tense ourselves up and hold our muscles tight. And we are usually not even aware of doing it. This puts us continually in the fight or flight mode and eventually this will wear on your nervous system. The muscle relaxation technique used in the Rapid Relaxation process can be practiced anywhere at any time and quickly give you dynamic results where you will feel much more relaxed. Therefore you will be portraying the person you really are, instead of someone who is over stressed.
Step Four: Attitude of GratitudeHaving a positive attitude is a significant part of stress release. If we can be strict about our self-talk, making sure positive self-talk replaces the negative messages we give ourselves, then we are going to feel a lot more powerful. During the Rapid Relaxation process positive self talk and moments of gratitude are feed into your subconscious at a more relaxed state so it is more easily taken on, accepted and believed by yourself. Therefore it has a far greater impact on your general outlook of life.
Step Five: Connect with your Inner SelfConnecting with your inner self is about having moments of stillness where time stops for that instant. Its in this time that you gain great insight and reflect on your life. Its an opportunity to step outside the forest of day-to-day activities and look inward. This is an extremely powerful space that can be reached quickly when you practice the Rapid Relaxation technique.
