CANDLES
These are a magical tool, with many uses, prevalent in all rituals. The simple lighting of a candle is a ritual in itself. Just lightening a candle for a special purpose, such as inner or world peace, can be very powerful. Lighting a candle, followed by affirmations of “what you want to see happen” and combined with visualisation’s are also pretty powerful tools.
Candles of different colours can be chosen to signify different purposes.
Green – is usually associated with money, also fertility, creativity and growth. It’s also used for happiness, peace and love, emotion, instinct and the powers of nature.
Blue – is associated with harmony, clarity, friendship and compassion. They also associated with loyalty, sincerity and love, justice and wisdom.
Yellow – is associated with transformation. It’s also used for mentality, eloquence and divination, good for creativity and activity.
Red – is for courage, strength, defence, exorcism, desire, energy, passion, and dynamic healing of organs, especially after surgery.
Orange – is for health, enlightenment, communication, success, energy, progress, travel, leadership, intellect and it can also be protective.
Purple or Royal Blue – aids meditation, promotes contemplation and psychic ability and lends depth and majesty. This could be good in spells over legal settlements.
Black – candles are the most sombre of all, but definitely not sinister or malevolent. It is associated with binding and secrecy, denotes receptivity and serious intent.
Brown – is a protective colour, connected to concentration, grounding and absorption. Candles in this colour are rarely seen, but a muddy plum colour can be found. Dark green or a honey colour could also be used as a substitute as these are Earthy colours.
Different colours of candles may be used to mark various festivals and occasions. Many of the colours above is where people differ upon, but whatever your purpose, choose a colour that feels right with you. If you’re still in double always go with white, which is specifically linked with purity, children and expansion.
