Flirting Body Language
There are definite body language signs, which say yes I am available or no forget it. Body language is another extremely powerful non-verbal way of communicating. You can tell so much from the way someone stands, or the way they hold themselves and from how they sit. People have an air and presence about them, which tells you how they’re thinking and how open or closed they’re life and more importantly, to you at that particular moment.
I’m Available Signs.
Let’s look at the open, I’m available signs. The body language signs that tell someone you are interested in him or her. These are powerful signs and need to portraying correctly. When used in conjunction with the Eye Twinkle, and Flirting Sequence they can work magic.
The Seductive Sit.
If you’re sitting, make sure you’re facing or better still half facing him/her so you have to half turn your body towards them to communicate. It shows that you’re making an effort to see them and be closer.
For girls, either cross your legs at the knees, the ankles or just keep your knees together and your feet off to one side. This will depend on what looks the most flattering on you. It will also depend on what you’re wearing.
If you have shapely legs then you are probably going to want to show them off and cross them at the knees. If they are a little chubby then maybe they will look better with your knees kept together and feet tucked behind you or to the side. If your legs are nice but not great then maybe crossed at the ankles will work better.
To find this out, get yourself a chair, sit in front of the mirror, and see for yourself. It’s best if you do this exercise by yourself, then you can be totally honest, without anyone else saying, “oh you look ok like that”. Be honest with yourself to find out the best and most flattering way for you to sit. You want to make the most of every feature you have in life and the way you sit is no different to anything else.
Ok, now you are sitting, half facing them (if possible), so you’re giving out open body language signs.
With the Seductive Sit you will want to have your body leaning forward slightly, not slumped forward and not straight up like a sergeant major or leaning back. The forward tilt of the body is once again a very open seductive form of sitting. It shows you are approachable and friendly. It shows you are open to meeting them, talking or getting to know them better.
The Power Sit.
The power Sit is very much the same as for the seductive sit as far as the legs are concerned but the position of the body changes. To carry this off you need to be very confident and either fall into the category of the seductive or the charismatic flirt. If you are a subdued flirt then this position is not for you, you are best to work with the seductive sit.
Instead of leaning slightly forward as you do in the seductive sit, with the power sit, you lean slightly back. It’s an over confident position and one which shows others you know what you want, you’re not insecure, and you have terms of your own, rather than fitting into someone else’s terms and conditions. It says a lot about you as a person. However, make sure this is what you want to portray as it can also discourage people. Although it does sort out the weak from the strong and that may be exactly what you want to do. If so, go right ahead, use the Power Sit, and use it in conjunction with a flirtatious sequence.
The sort of person you will attract with this position will be a strong independent person who also likes their partners to be independent and not someone who likes dependence or clinginess of any sort. You are setting yourself up to be a self-sufficient person who makes their own rules and sticks to them. These signals are fine but once again, make sure that’s how you want to be portrayed. It can also show inflexibility and many will find you too hot to handle, so you will be eliminating a good percentage of maybe interested parties.
.
The Seductive Stand.
If you are standing, then stand straight so your posture looks confident and don’t slump. With your feet, just cross them over, which will give them a nice relaxed look? Alternatively, if you don’t feel comfortable doing this you can stand normally with both feet together, or if you have something to lean on then try leaning on one leg to give a more relaxed look (don’t do this for too long as it may not be great for your overall posture).
Your hands can either be by your side or naturally holding your bag, wallet or other things. Alternatively, you can even put both of your hands behind your back, which works particularly well if you are leaning on a wall or something else. However, this look does not suit all body types so once again practice in the mirror to find out, which is the most flattering position for your body type. In addition, it’s important that you feel comfortable with your position because if you do, you will be more confident and look natural.
The Power Stand.
With the power stand, there is definitely no slumping and although you want to look confident and relaxed, there are different positions with your legs and hands.
Your legs can be either together evenly balanced or one in front of each other for a little softening but not crossed. You could lean on one but make sure your hands are in a powerful position to offset the more relaxed look.
One of your hands could be on your hip; putting both on your hips would be an over-kill as it would be far too confronting and threatening. Or you could cross them, which is generally a don’t come near me sign but if you have your legs softened and your face is softened with a smile then you can get away with it and it will portray a powerful very in-control look. Once again, make sure this is what you want to portray and practice in the mirror to see what the result is going to be.
Hand Magic.
Hands can look great or they can look awkward, so make sure you know what to do with them. Otherwise, when you are nervous they can stand out like sore thumbs.
When you’re sitting, they can go in your lap or if you have something to drink I would use this to occupy your hands.
Alternatively, you can place them under your chin. You can rest your chin on one hand or use both hands under your chin. This is a great pose but is restrictive if you want to be flirtatious. You can take one away at a time, which are a nicer more graceful movement then taking them both away at the same time.
Another position for your hands is holding your phone. This can be good if you are standing and feel a little awkward, and self-conscious. You can also utilise your bag, one hand can always be on that.
Looking relaxed and confident is a natural for someone people, but for others it’s an awkward process, however, it doesn’t have to be – use these tips to feel more comfortable when hitting the social scene. Good luck!
