Dating on a budget can be a fun and inventive way to spend meaningful moments with your nearest and dearest. Even when you are tight on cash, with a little imagination you can enjoy a romantic night out. There are many things you can do while dating on a budget that can give you lasting memories and deepen your love–bond. Here are some inexpensive date ideas to help keep your wallet full while still keeping the passion alive in your relationship.

Sight–Seeing – Discover historic landmarks in your city that have either no cost or a small entrance fee. Museums and local art galleries typically have one day a week where you can get in for free. You can each pick your desired exhibit and enjoy exploring both of them together.

Get to know your Neighborhood – Make a list of 15 unique items to find and discover in your area including local establishments, bars, restaurants, cafes, knick knack shops, parks etc. Surprise your date with your list and have them make a list of their own for you on their neighborhood. Enjoy the adventure of finding new places in your neighborhood and set a date to meet at each of the places for a look around.

Memory Lane – If you or your partner still lives close to where you grew up, take them on a tour of your childhood. Show them the house you grew up in, the elementary school you attended or where you used to hang out with your friends, or go on an internet exploration of your home area. It’s fun to go back in time and reminisce and your partner and friends will love seeing your upbringing.

Sweat Together – If you and your partner are both athletic, physical activities can be a great way to spend your time together. Take a bike ride, play a match of tennis, take a run in the park or enjoy a game of basketball. It’s a great way to have fun and let loose with each other.

Picnic for two – Picnic’s can be as casual or as romantic as you want them to be. Cut your sandwiches into hearts then pack cheese, crackers, blankets and a bottle of wine or soda. Sneak in one of your sweethearts favorite flowers and a little love note to make your picnic ultra romantic.

Visit a Bookstore – Head to the bookstore and pick some books you’re interested in and share your thoughts with each other. You can grab a cup of coffee and find a cozy spot to flip through your books. Spice things up by flipping through a Kama Sutra book and pick out ideas for when you get home.

Hobby Together – Find a hobby that the two of you enjoy and see if there are classes being offered in your area by checking your local community newspaper. Samba lessons, cooking classes, pottery making, glass blowing; the opportunities are endless and often inexpensive. Learning something new together is a great way to tighten your love–bond and it gives you something to look forward to doing together.

Scrapbooking – Select out some of your most treasured pictures together and grab supplies from your local arts and crafts store. Spend the evening making your own scrapbook together by choosing your backgrounds, lettering, quotes and photos. The book will remind you of all the great times you’ve shared as a couple and you’ll always have it to look back on and add to in the future.

Game Night – Host a game night at your home and invite your friends to join in. Ask them to bring one dish or a bottle of their choice and you’ll provide the games and appetizers. Games like Bunco, Poker, Pictionary, Monopoly, Taboo or Outburst make for great choices. You can make the teams interesting by selecting teams from a bowl or putting the men against the women to add to the competition.

Pamper Each other – No pricey spa required. Make it a night in for two and treat each other to full–body massages or a relaxing bubble bath. Dim the lights down low, light candles and use aroma therapy lotions and oils to help create a romantic ambiance in the comfort of your own home.

Just because you are on a budget doesn’t mean that you can’t date someone who takes your fancy or have a date night with your partner, it just means you need to get a bit more creative about dating – make it fun, romantic and personal and you can’t go wrong!
