My work as a counsellor made me aware of and offers a safe, caring, and non-judgemental
relationship, where we can explore thoughts and feelings, which may be too painful
or difficult to share with family or friends, and which damage personal growth.
Many times our past can influence our reactions to situations taking place now,
causing troubles in many parts of our lives. Present problems can be a 'trigger',
releasing feelings about the past, which we thought we had conquered.
Counselling is about learning how to understand unconscious motivation, which
can make us feel unable to move forward in our lives. With counselling, you
are free to say whatever you wish - there is nothing, which is 'out of bounds'.
Whatever thoughts or feelings, we will explore these together and try to understand
them.
Discovering these feelings, and the problems causing them, is challenging and
requires a commitment from both of us to advance your growth, progress, happiness,
and wellbeing. Within our safe, 'therapeutic' relationship, you are listened
to and understood, and the concept of 'change' shall gradually become attainable,
leading to a sense of personal empowerment making it possible for you to create
an optimistic future.
Counselling, Coaching and Mentoring are about 'empowering' people, so that
they can feel in control of their lives and have the freedom to make 'choices'.
This has been, and continues to be, an important focus of my work. As well as
private practice, I have several years experience as a voluntary counsellor,
and I continue to maintain a commitment to this work. I regularly attend workshops
and training sessions, and have been involved with Christian counselling and
have counselled online for the gay and lesbian, transgender and bi-sexual community.
I have completed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), combined with Coaching
and Mentoring, all relevant and practical. Together we can utilise a unique
in-depth approach to insights that may enable you to identify and break through
hindering forces that may be holding you back from reaching your goals, and
help you with situations that may arise in your everyday life.
I am very aware of behaviours, feelings, and thoughts and can assist, with
your help, in helping you to identify non-productive thinking, which can, challenge
damaging core beliefs and offer options or new perspectives, that may help you
to reach a positive outcome. Together we can apply techniques that you will
be able to use to define aspirations, recognise and identify options, uncover
rules and set new achievable goals that can help you grow and develop - and
so become the person you want to be.
