This is because our society dictates that the young-looking gets all the opportunities. And once age and time takes its toll on one’s body, the opportunities and the attention also decrease.

The best medicine to combat, or at least lower the rate and effect of aging, is the pomegranate. Pomegranate is seen to have three times the antioxidant potency of red wine and green tea. It is also better than tomatoes and vitamin E. It is the best antioxidant that fights free radicals that speed up the signs of aging.

Pomegranate also helps lower cholesterol as shown by a research where pomegranate juice significantly lowered the oxidation of LDL or bad cholesterol.

This fruit is also rich in Vitamins B1, B2, C, and niacin. It also has minerals like potassium, amino acids like glutanic and aspartic acids, tannins, and alkaloids. Since it is the best antioxidant, it also contains polyphenols that promote heart health.

It has been shown through studies at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology that cholesterol oxidation process was lowered by 40 per cent when the subjects drank 2 to 3 ounces daily of pomegranate juice for two weeks. It also reduced the retention of LDL or the bad cholesterol.

Time Magazine has written about the amazing power of pomegranate and said that “The pomegranate, with its regal crown and sparkling scarlet arils, is the ‘in’ fruit among American’s leading health buffs. And for good reason – it has a tart, refreshing flavor, an ancient lineage, and provides a wallop of antioxidants.”

Pomegranate may not seem to be a very popular fruit, much less a healing fruit, but the wonders it does for the human health are overwhelming. So it is best to include the pomegranate in one’s diet today to achieve better health.
